ICU NURSES MATRICULATE AT UNIVERSITY OF GHANA DISTANCE LEARNING CENTRE, TAMALE

It was a happy moment today at the university of Ghana distance learning Centre at Tamale workers' college when the first badge of the distance nursing students matriculated. In presence were some of the nursing staffs of the Tamale Teaching Hospital ICU department. The course is a 3 year program that would prepare nurses who wished to upgrade themselves whiles still at post. It is a weekend module session that is facilitated by senior nursing tutors from the region. The purpose of this is to expand the scope of the university in training nurses who could not have had the chance to travel to the capital city because of  their work schedules.
This development has brought a huge competition among the institutions that provide Bachelor level  nursing education in the region. Students now have an army of options to choose which university would offer them the best and quality education that is humanly affordable.
The nursing profession is a growing field in the country. There are huge opportunities that could still be harnessed if nurses expand their scope of knowledge. This is only possible with copious appetite for education and research in the field.Robert Browning states, “But a man’s reach should exceed his grasp.” The face of healthcare is constantly changing. The Nursing field needs professionals with great imagination and vision. Hence, nurses  who are enrolled into courses that would better equip them with the current trends in healthcare delivery.
We therefore congratulate our dear nurses who are poised to grasp this opportunity that would enable them expand their scope of knowledge in the nursing field. Big ups to  Zahara, Abel, Rufai, Mbabilla, Muniru and Nafisah
